Getting a provisional licenceYou must apply for a
provisional driving licence before you can learn to drive a car. This can be
done either online using the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency's (DVLA) secure
and easy to use online service, or you can apply by completing the D1
application form that is available from the DVLA form ordering service or Post
Office branches. The current cost of a first provisional driving licence is £50.
You can apply for your provisional licence up to three month before your 17th birthday but it will not be valid until the day of your 17th birthday. DVLA aims to deliver your driving licence to you within three weeks of receiving your application. It will take longer if your health or personal details have to be checked. You will need to wait for your new licence to arrive before driving. Now that you have your valid provisional licence, let's get started - book your first lesson by clicking here. |
